"The entire purpose of this post....
Sun Feb 10, 2008 at 12:12:46 AM PDT
...is to try to create a group of posters who will back each other up.
~Jay Elias"
I have an idea. Well, actually, Jay Elias had an idea. I just want to follow up on it. [EDIT: I think Jay may actually have been riffing on Meteor Blades' fine diary.]
I think there is interest in seeing some amount of civility return to the Great Orange Satan™. To that end, I am proposing to take action on Mr. Elias' proposal. Simple as being willing to accept an email or IM asking for support. The thrust of this is that those who support a certain candidate must be called on the carpet by members of their own camp, as well as the undecided and opposition supporters.
You win: An Open Thread
Mon Feb 04, 2008 at 08:00:40 PM PDT
You win
It's your show, now
So what's it gonna be
'Cause people
Will tune in
How many train wrecks do we need to see?
It occurs to me that my presence here is no longer a positive thing, and that interacting here is having a negative impact on myself, and the community.
I'll be back after we've got a nom.
F*ck You: An Open Thread.
Sat Jan 19, 2008 at 04:28:21 PM PDT
This is an open thread, dedicated to civility in the primaries. Please feel free to use it as a repository for any thoughts on candidates, their campaigns, and their supporters. ANY thoughts.
This will allow us to contain the talentless, vitriolic crap in one place, thereby freeing up diary space for those with actual abilities.
Requests:
Don't be a complete asshole. Vent, but remember that most of us are gonna wind up on the same side.
Don't troll rate anyone for venting, unless they are violating rule # 1.
Don't get defensive when your guy/gal/muppet gets attacked. That's what this thread is for.
Onward.
Cesspool: An Open Thread
Sun Jan 06, 2008 at 10:27:01 PM PDT
This is another open thread, dedicated solely to smearing candidates and their supporters. Seemed like the thing to do, after reading a few threads today.
This will allow our more talented diarists to write something useful, instead of having to write shitty hit diaries.
So... A few quick requests (don't wanna call 'em rules):
Don't be a complete asshole. Vent, but remember that most of us are gonna wind up on the same side.
Don't troll rate anyone for venting, unless they are violating rule # 1.
Don't get defensive when your guy/gal/muppet gets attacked. That's what this thread is for.
Onward...
Sour Grapes: An Open Thread
Fri Jan 04, 2008 at 01:38:19 AM PDT
This is an open thread, dedicated solely to bitching about candidates. This way, some of our more talented writers can stick to writing something worth reading, and those who need to give vent to their spleen will have a centralized spot to do so.
Due to his recent win in Iowa, I expect Senator Obama to receive the higher proportion of attacks, but don't let that stop you. If you want to bitch about Edwards, or Clinton, have at. Hell, slam Dodd and Gravel for all I care. Just do it now.
I wonder how old he is?
Thu Jan 03, 2008 at 04:35:29 AM PDT
Looks like he's about 16 or 17. I'd guess he's probably closer to 20, but that's a stretch. The two girls who have been waiting to greet him look even younger.
I wonder how old he is?
The girls have been here a while. They both seem excited. I'm not trying to eavesdrop, but I pick up on the fact that Cody is coming home, and that it's been a long time, and that one of them is his girlfriend (I think). Idle chatter, until I hear someone say Iraq.
California Wildfires, Liveblog # 29
Thu Oct 25, 2007 at 05:40:33 AM PDT
DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DIARY. Go RECOMMEND THE MOTHERSHIP and keep it in the Recommended Diary list.
This is the twenty-ninth in a series of diaries providing information regarding the California wildfires to those who most need it.
The DKos community is providing extraordinary coverage of the California Fires. What makes this site different from the typical media bubbleheads is that community members are giving real-time information regarding evacuations and fire locations.
Many of you are directly affected, many have family in danger, and most of us just hope and pray for the safety of our fellow citizens.
From all of us in Northern California, we are with you in spirit. Our prayer is for calm skies, no winds, more humidity, lower temps, and safety for you all.
California Wildfires, Liveblog # 9
Tue Oct 23, 2007 at 04:46:32 AM PDT
**DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DIARY: RECOMMEND The Mothership Diary by Miss Blue**
Our thoughts and prayers are with those in Southern California who are threatened by the fires. We're all dreaming of better days for California.
There are links below to information sites to be used by residents only, and links to donation sites to give some tangible aid to Californians and their animals.
Whether you find comfort in God, Dog, Muhammed, Yaweh, the Goddess, or none of the preceeding, please add your thoughts and prayers for the wellbing of those involved. This is another national tragedy.
Liveblogging continued below.
Know your enemy
Sat Oct 20, 2007 at 04:30:58 PM PDT
My mother is my enemy. She does not know it, but she is.
~Paul-Muad'Dib Atreides
My mother is a fundie.
So was I, before I woke up. I thought I'd share some thoughts on what that means, personally and politically. Maybe I'll do one or two more in a series on this.
Update [2007-10-20 19:54:4 by Marcus Tullius]:Should have included this in the original draft. DHinMI has a good piece on the FP right now, regarding the fundie base's reaction to a Rudy nomination. Check it out here.
